The Valet Parking Scam

Image
Being an avid reader of Google reviews, I find it really amusing that people count valet parking as a positive despite multiple cases of people getting back damaged cars or even challans for street parking. The parking issue is exacerbated by Google Maps not separating 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler parking like they do for navigation. Most places have reviews claiming 'plenty of parking', only they forget to mention that there's no parking for cars at all. Valet parking makes sense as a convenience where there is a huge parking space and people want to avoid walking from parking to their destination. Here, it's because the business doesn't have enough car parking and wants to cram 5 times as many cars as there are parking spots. Plus they park on streets and even empty plots of land of available.

Poor customer service in India

Image
A lack of consumer rights protection has led brands to dilute their warranty coverage to reduce service costs. This practice compromises the customer experience and is often paired with lower build quality, leading to a higher rate of necessary repairs. Brands that were considered reliable for claiming warranty like Apple and Samsung now frequently charge customers stating damage caused by customer is not covered under warranty. The less said about the automobile industry the better. In my case with Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. They refused to honour warranty claiming water damage. For an IP68 and 5ATM rated product, claiming water damage as an excuse is ridiculous. This is not an isolated case either, with the most recent one being this one .

Hyundai Creta (2024) Review

Image
Upgraded from i20 Asta Diesel (2012) to Hyundai Creta Petrol (2024) Purchase Experience Poor Between booking (May 2024) and delivery (July 2024), there was a 2.5 month waiting period. The day before delivery, dealership employees realized they had calculated warranty costs incorrectly and insurance cost had gone up so I had to pay more before taking delivery. First Impressions (Year One) Poor Pros Upgrading from a 12 year old car, the new bells and whistles were definitely appreciated. Large instrumentation cluster and touchscreen are nice to have. The 360 degree camera and rear collision avoidance are absolute must haves for street parking. Cons Build quality and NVH levels are a step down from the old i20. No automatic rain sensing wipers. Has a sunroof, not useful due to air quality and weather in most of India. Door thuds just aren't the same. Creta petrol engine is more easily audible compared to i20 diesel when it was new and the whole car shakes when the engine turns on due ...

What happened to Thick shakes?

Image
When Thick Shake Factory launched, their shakes were so full of ice cream that they were undrinkable from a straw till 10-15 minutes after they were prepared. Now thick shakes are mostly water (Keventers) and lack flavour (Makers of Milkshakes) as well since almost everyone uses non flavoured ice cream and adds the required syrup flavour. I guess Thick Shake Factory still uses flavoured ice creams and Milkshake Mafia still prepares Thick Shakes that are undrinkable from a straw but there doesn't seem to be an outlet that does both.

What's the deal with glassware

Image
Every 'in' eatery is jumping onto the glassware bandwagon. Chai Point uses them for iced tea takeaways, bakeries have started serving desserts in jars and even old outlets like CCD have started serving shakes in glass bottles (not to mention Keventers and Drunken Monkey). What do we do with the glassware after consuming the eatables? Unlike kulfi containers from sweet shops, the empty glassware can be returned for a discount at the time of next purchase.
